Is Your Business Ready to Recover?

 
Disasters strike small businesses in many shapes and forms.  They can derive from Mother Nature or through the intentional or unintentional acts of individuals.  This Brown Bag session will help you prepare your organization to protect the safety of employees and minimize the impact of damages to the bottom line.  Please join representatives from the Grand Forks Police Department and the US Small Business Administration to learn about the following disaster preparation topics and more!

Sergeant Duane Simon,(DSimon@grandforksgov.com) Specialized Resource Bureau, Grand Forks Police Department is a 31 year veteran of the Grand Forks Police Department.  He started in 1988, and has been assigned to all the bureaus within the agency, Patrol, Investigations, back to Patrol, and finally the Specialized Resource Bureau.  He spent 14 years as a general investigator, and worked a number of crimes ranging from misdemeanor thefts to homicides.  He was promoted to Sergeant in 2013, and assigned to Patrol until 2017 when he took an assignment to the Specialized Resource Bureau. Sergeant Duane Simon is a 1987 graduate of UND with a Criminal Justice Degree, and has accumulated over 2,600 hours of training while at the GFPD.  He is married to his wife Jackie, 3 adult children, all married, NO GRAND KIDS YET!.  He enjoys going to the lake, fishing and golfing.
 
Eric Giltner, (eric.giltner@sba.gov) Senior Area Manager, Small Business Administration.  Mr. Giltner has served the North Dakota SBA for over twenty years.  In this time he has counseled over a thousand individuals in how to start a business and led hundreds of small business workshops covering a wide range of topics including financing options, marketing, disaster preparedness, social media, cybersecurity, and many others.  He also has taught finance and management as a faculty member at UND’s College of Business and Public Administration prior to joining SBA.
