Pets for adoption are an important aspect of our organization. Our pets need a second chance to find a permanent, loving home. Our adoption page will give you more information on this important program.
In an effort to match pets with people we provide as much information as possible about the pet being adopted and any health or temperament problems we have observed. It is important to remember that over 70% of the pets entering our shelter are strays with no history. We cannot guarantee the health, temperament, behavior or personality of any animal adopted. We also provide information about the responsibilities of pet ownership including the long-term emotional and financial commitment required for owning a pet.
Losing a pet can be as devastating as losing a human friend or family member. Emotions too are similar as are the stages of grief. Denial, anger, guilt, depression are all natural components of pet loss. Unfortunately, few outlets exist for pet owners to deal with the grieving process. Our Pet Loss Support Group is available to help with that process. Held the first and third Thursdays of each month the support group is open to the public with no fees or registrations necessary. The group will meet from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. No meetings are held on holidays.
