Gardening Saturday

Sponsored by NDSU Extension in Grand Forks County and the Grand Forks Horticultural Society, the 33rd Annual Gardening Saturday educational event will be held at the Alerus Center on April 6.  This year's keynote speaker is Jan Coppola Bills from Michigan.  She is a business woman who left corporate America to live her dream in the gardening business.  Throughout this day-long event, extension agents, gardening specialists, horticulturists, master hardeners, university professionals and the keynote speaker provide educational sessions on many gardening topics.  The event includes gardening vendors, informational exhibits and a silent auction.

An Evening with Laura Osnes at The 1919 Lounge

Hot off of Broadway’s Tony Award–winning musical Bandstand, Laura Osnes brings her solo show to The 1919 Lounge. Originally from Eagan, Minnesota, Laura catapulted to the top of the Broadway world after winning the role of Sandy in NBC’s competition Grease: You’re the One That I Want for the 2007 Broadway revival of the hit musical. From there her blazing talent and soaring singing voice have landed her two Tony nominations and roles in South Pacific, Anything Goes, and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Join Laura in an intimate evening when she shares songs and stories from throughout her career.

UND Out of the Darkness Campus Walk

WALK TO FIGHT SUICIDE


Join us for the University of North Dakota Out of the Darkness Campus Walk on April 7th in Grand Forks at the School of Medical and Health Sciences at 1:00PM.  Proceeds bring local and national suicide prevention and awareness programs of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention directly to the students/school. Grief Journeys for Adults Support Group

Hospice of the Red River Valley offers a free ongoing grief support group for adults 18 years and older who have experienced a loss through death. The group meets on the second Thursday of each month from 1:30-3 p.m. at Campbell Library, 422 4th St. NW, East Grand Forks, Minn. This group is free and open to the public. For more information or questions, call (800) 237-4629 and ask to speak to the bereavement department.

Soup in the Studio (benefiting Global Friends Coalition)

Global Friends Coalition

Art for the soul; soup for the bowl. Enjoy a bowl of soup at Muddy Waters Clay Center and give a donation to Global Friends Coalition. Spin for Kids

Altru’s Spin for Kids is an annual indoor stationary bike race, raising over $850,000 since it began in 2009. Teams of all backgrounds and riding abilities participate, with each rider taking his or her turn for 20 minutes. Teams get dressed up to join the fun, with several teams loyally returning year after year. All funds raised directly benefit children with a variety of special needs. Proceeds are disbursed to qualifying families to help ease the struggles they face every day.

Journeying Through Grief is a class designed for those who are recently bereaved. It is intended for adults 18 years and older who have experienced the recent loss of a loved one. The session will help you better understand the grief process, explore methods of self-care, and embrace and carry memories with you as you move forward.
